Emilie Marie Schultheiss was born August 8, 1892, probably in Bethany Twp., Gratiot Co., MI. She was the fifth child and fourth daughter of Frederick Julius Gottleib Schultheiss and Emma Pequegnat. Her father was a farmer and carpenter. During the 1930s she worked as a bookkeeper and manager of a stockyard in Breckenridge, MI.
In 1919 she married Louis E. Housel, who served in the military during WWI in France. She was murdered on October 11, 1966, during a burlary in her home at 217 E. Saginaw Ave., St. Louis, MI. She died of seven stab wounds and a cut throat.
