  • Notes
    • Geoffrey Jocelyn was lord of Hide Hall, near Sawbridgeworth, and of the manor
of Shellow-Bowels, or Shellow-Jocelyn, in Willingale-Doe, Essex Co. In 1338
he leased the manor of Shellow-Jocelyn to Robert le Marshall and his wife,
Margery, during their lives, subject to a rent charge of 6 lbs a year. This
manor passed out of the Jocelyn family into the Torrell family, being called
Torrell's Hall; but it came again into the possession of the Jocelyns some
      200 years later.
