    • He was one of the first settlers of this part of the State, was captured by the Indians during the Revolutionary war and turned over to the Hessians, and was held prisoner five years.

    • They (his parents) were Presbyterians, and for several years attended the Warrior Run church, where they, together with John Brown, Esq., and George Hammond occupied a pew for which they paid an annual rental of one pound fourteen shillings and sixpence.

    • George Hammond married Jane McCormick, and had three children: Robert R. married Anna Chesnut, Elizabeth married Seth Cadwallader, and Margaret, who married John Snyder, son of ex-Governor Snyder, of Pennsylvania.

      NOTE: Since Jane died in 1790, these children must be from his second marriage to Margaret Robinson in 1792.
