Albert and Anna Cadwallader 1868

Albert and Anna Cadwallader

Albert and Anna Louisa (Supplee) were married in 1868, and this picture was probably taken at that time. Albert’s father died in 1863, leaving Albert and his mother to run the family business. They owned the property along Broadway between Front and Elm Streets in Milton, PA, and were engaged in the grocery business. They lived in a large brick home on the corner of Front and Broadway. All of their property was destroyed in the great fire of 1880, but was quickly rebuilt. Albert was a capitalist among other things, lent money to others and owned stock in several local businesses. His father, Seth, was a Welsh Quaker from Horsham, PA, who moved with his cousin Seth Iredell to the Milton area about 1812.
