- MISS HILL, 69, DIES AT MILTON
Miss Bessie Hill, 69, of 220 Center street, Milton died at her home Saturday afternoon at two o’clock the result of a cerebral hemorrhage suffered early last week.
She was a native of Northumberland county and the daughter of Seth and Rachel Angeny Hill. She took an active part in the affairs of the First Baptist church, to which she belonged, and for more than a quarter of a century served as superintendendent of the primary department of the church school. In recent years she was unable to participate in this work.
For a number of years she raised the family of the Mr. and Mrs. Leslie, missionaries to Africa and in later years raised the David Jenkins family following the death of Mrs. Jenkins. One of these children, John Jenkins, made his home with Miss Hill. Surviving are two brothers, Harry M. Hill and William H. Hill, both of Milton, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Tuesday afternoon at four o'clock from the late residence with Rev. Harry O. Kline, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be made in Harmony cemetery.
