- NOBLE, Barclay E. born in Ames, Iowa on April 11,1900: passed away September 13, 1988. He graduated from Iowa State College in 1922. He received a Master of Science in Physiology from the University of Chicago in 1928 and an M.D. from Rush Medical School in Chicago in 1929. He had an internship and medical residency at the LA County General Hospital. In 1930 he became an Asst. Professor of Medicine at the University of Southern California School of Medicine. He became a Clinical Professor of Medicine in 1948; And in 1965, he was designated Emeritus Clinical Professor of Medicine. He was in private practice in internal medicine in Los Angeles and on the staff at the Hospital of the Good Samaritan until illness forced his retirement in 1970. He was President of the Los Angeles Society of Internal Medicine in 1939. He received an Outstanding Service Award from the Medical Alumni Association of USC in 1967. He also received an award for Distinguished Service from the LA County General Hospital in 1968. His wife of almost 60 years, Elizabeth, passed away in 1987. He is survived by 1 sister, Agnes Haxby; and 3 children, Barclay, Nancy and Betsy Noble; and 3 grandchildren, David, Rebecca and Paul Noble.
Memorial services will be held at 1 pm Sunday, September 18, at All Souls Chapel at the Hospital of the Good Samaritan.
